IPTV EPG Wrong Time on Firestick? UK BST/GMT Fix

If the programme guide on your Firestick shows every programme starting exactly one hour early or one hour late — while playback of the channels themselves works fine — you are almost certainly looking at a timezone mismatch between your IPTV EPG source and UK local time. This is a UK-specific problem because it appears and disappears around British Summer Time — the clocks going forward in March and back in October — and it fixes cleanly if you know where to look.

The one-hour clue

The tell is that every channel is off by exactly the same amount, either +1 hour or -1 hour. If different channels are off by different amounts, or if some are correct and others are blank, that is a different problem covered in our Firestick EPG not working guide. Consistent one-hour offset across the whole guide almost always means the EPG data source is being served in UTC or a non-UK timezone, and your player is not offsetting it to UK local time.

Why UK clock changes expose this

Most IPTV providers serve their EPG in UTC. During British Summer Time (roughly late March to late October) the UK is UTC+1. Outside BST, the UK is UTC+0 — which happens to match UTC exactly. So an incorrectly-configured player that shows raw UTC times looks correct all winter and suddenly appears to be an hour behind on the day the clocks go forward. When the clocks go back in October, the problem disappears again on its own. Many UK households only notice the fault twice a year and assume the provider has “gone wrong” — the provider has not; the local player just needs a timezone offset.

Fix in TiviMate

1. Open TiviMate on your Firestick.
2. Bring up Settings from the sidebar (press Menu or Back to reveal it if it is hidden).
3. Navigate to EPG.
4. Find Time shift — this is the field that offsets the guide.
5. Set it to +1:00 during BST if the guide reads an hour early; set it to 0:00 the rest of the year. If your guide reads an hour late instead, use -1:00.
6. Return to the guide. It updates immediately — no restart needed.

TiviMate does not auto-adjust for BST/GMT changes. The value has to be updated twice a year on the day the UK clocks change if your EPG source is served in UTC. Setting a reminder in your phone for the last Sundays of March and October takes ten seconds and saves the same-day panic.

Fix in IPTV Smarters Pro

1. Open IPTV Smarters Pro.
2. From the main menu, open the Settings gear (top-right on most Firestick layouts).
3. Choose General Settings then EPG Time Shift.
4. Enter +1 during BST if the guide is an hour early, or 0 in GMT winter months. Enter -1 if the guide is an hour late.
5. Save. Return to the live view — the EPG will re-render with the correct times.

Fix if you use a different player

Most Android-based IPTV players on Firestick expose the same setting under slightly different names — Time shift, EPG offset, Timezone offset, or EPG time zone. Look under the EPG or Guide sub-menu of the app’s settings. The value is always given in hours (whole hours for the UK), positive to shift the guide forwards, negative to shift it back.

When it is the app, when it is the feed

If your provider serves the EPG in UK local time already, no offset is needed — leave the field at zero year-round and it will handle BST/GMT correctly. If your provider serves the EPG in UTC, the offset needs to change twice a year. If you are not sure which one your provider uses, watch what happens the day the clocks change — the answer becomes obvious within 24 hours.

How to stop this happening every March and October

• Set two annual calendar reminders on your phone: last Sunday of March — BST starts, last Sunday of October — BST ends. Two seconds of prep saves an hour of confused prodding.
• Ask your provider whether their EPG is served in UTC or UK local time. If they cannot say, assume UTC and plan for the twice-yearly adjustment.
• If your player has a “match device time zone” or “auto DST” option, enable it. Most Firestick IPTV players do not — the Firestick’s system clock does track BST correctly, but IPTV apps rarely inherit that. This is a known limitation of the current TiviMate and IPTV Smarters builds as of 2026.
